Additional smaller teeth are arranged in between the main teeth of a saw-tooth cooling bed. - A modified feeding arrangement allows rolled bars to be delivered to any one of five different pockets that are thus formed. - The feeder consists of a stepped plate which may be raised to one of five different positions by means of a crank connected to a hydraulic cylinder. - When rolling smaller bars, the feeder is used in the different positions to fill up the smaller intermediate pockets before the bed makes its traverse movement which transfers the bars to the next pockets on the bed. - More efficient use is made of the bed by this means.
