1,200,432. Isocyanate-carbodiimide adducts. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 15 Jan., 1969 [25 Jan., 1968], No. 2293/69. Heading C2C. A process for the preparation of polyisocyanates containing an isocyanate-carbodiimide adduct comprises heating organic polyisocyanates which are free from other nitrogencontaining groups to temperatures above 150 C. in the presence of 001 to 10 mol. per cent of catalyst comprising organic compounds containing isocyanate groups and biuret, urea, amido, urethane, allophanate, uretdione, isocyanurate or uretone imine groups and cooling the reaction products obtained to room temperature. The process is applicable to diisocyanatoalkanes, 1,4 - diisocyanatocyclohexane, isophorone diisocyanate, 1,3 - diisocyanato - 4 - chlorobenzene, 4,4<SP>1 </SP>- diisocyanatodiphenylsulphone, 4,4<SP>1 </SP>- diisocyanato diphenyl ether and to di- and tri-isocyanato-benzenes, -alkyl benzenes and -phenylmethanes, either alone or in admixture with mono-isocyanates of polyisocyanates. The reaction is exemplified by the treatment of 4,4<SP>1 </SP>- diisocyanato diphenyl methane with tri - (isocyanatohexyl)biuret, tri-(isocyanato hexyl). isocyanurate or various isocyanatoureas as catalysts. |
