A composition comprises a normally solid thermoplastic oxymethylene polymer, glass fibre in a quantity up to the weight of the polymer and up to 5% of the combined polymer and glass fibre weight of an isocyanato compound i.e. a compound containing at least two isocyanate and/or isothiocyanate groups. The isocyanato compound is reactive with the polymer, particularly under the influence of a catalyst. In the examples 98% oxymethylene- 2% oxyethylene copolymers are milled with glass fibre, either hexamethylene diisocyanate or diphenylmethane diisocyanate, and stannous octoate or sodium phenate as catalyst, chip-ground and injection moulded into samples. |
