Leucoauramines have the formula I:- (where A and B are each opt. substd. 1,4-arylene; R is H, OH, alkoxy, amino, alkyl, aralkyl, or cycloalkyl; X is H, or opt. substd. hydrocarbyl opt. contg. one or more hetero atoms; or R and X together are opt. substd. heterocyclic groups; R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each H, alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl; or R1/R2 or R3/R4 form heterocyclic groups with the N atomf n is 1,2 or 3; and where R is H, and R1R2N-A- and R3R4N-A- are each 4-dimethyl-aminophenyl, X is not 2 -carboxyphenyl or 4-carboxyphenyl). Used in the manufacture of carbon paper.
