[Also in Divisions C7 and D2] An electrolytic recording system comprises a recording sheet 10 passed between the silver, copper and zinc alloy anode 11 and the platinum, platinum-iridium or steel cathode 13 helically wound on to cylinder 12. The sheet may be white paper and is impregnated with an aqueous solution of ascorbic or erythorbic (isoascorbic) acid with an electrolyte, buffering agent and complexing agent. As the roller rotates, the point at which both electrodes contact the paper, through which the current flows, scans the sheet, the intensity of the current corresponding to the intensity of the blue-black mark made on the white sheet by reaction of silver dissolved from the anode with the acid impregnant. |
