Rotary staple fibre cutter - preventing clogging by and matting of fibres

Staple fibre cutting machine, in which the fibres are cut to uniform lengths and prevented from matting or clogging the cutter, is provided with a rotary drum having two annular end plates between which are arranged radially disposed cutters whereby the fibre tows are wound onto the radially outward ends of the cutters and pressed towards the radially inward ends of the cutters for discharging from the drum by a compressor roller. Drum is mounted for rotation about an axis inclined at 45 degrees and the fibres are discharged mainly under gravity.
