1506732 Electric connectors BRISTOLMYERS CO 14 March 1975 [15 March 1974] 10737/75 Heading H2E A swivelling connection between say, a handheld appliance and its supply lead, comprises a plug 20 with two coaxial contacts and an insulating moulded body around the contacts, the end portions of the lead and the junctions between the lead and the contacts; and a socket 21 in which two contacts are mounted on an insulating board. The plug 20 has a central pin contact 38 and an outer sleeve contact 39 soldered or crimped to the conductors of a lead 12, insulation 42 being moulded around and between the contacts 38, 39 and along an end portion of the lead where it is formed as a bend 14 so that lead extends generally at an angle to the axis of the plug; the insulation has stress relieving slots 51 and is fitted with a bushing 54 having a shoulder which engages the end wall 57 of the appliance housing to absorb tension in the lead. The socket contacts 22, 23 are mounted on the insulating board 24 which is held in a slot (32) between two flanges 29, 31 of the appliance housing; the board has a bore 41 through which the pin contact 38 extends. |
