The representation of dance steps on printed instruction sheets uses a basic hexagon approximately foot-shaped symbol. The position and orientation of these symbols, relative to each other, indicates the foot movement during a sequence of dance steps. In order to convey additional information without using text, each symbol is also provided with a line or figure marking. In this way, each type of dance step can be represented by an individual marking. This method is easier to follow than a description of steps in text form.
