NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound of formula I (X is acyl; R is protected or unprotected carboxyl). EXAMPLE:(+ or -)-cis-7beta-[ 2-( 2-Amino-4-thiazolyl )-2-syn-methoxyiminoacetamido ]- 4alpha-hydroxy-1-azebicyclo[4,2,0]oct-2-en-8-one-2-carboxylic acid. USE:Fungicide for various infectious diseases. Useful as a component of disinfectant. Exhibits strong antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. PROCESS:The compound of formula I is prepared by acylating a compound of formula II with a carboxylic acid of formula X2CO2H (X2 is X1 or protected X1) or its reactive derivative (e.g. acid halide, acid anhydride, mixed acid anhydride, active ester, acid azide, etc.), and if necessary, eliminating the protecting group of X2 and CO2R1. |
