The invention relates to an electrical resistor for heating apparatuses, having a support consisting of insulating material and having a metallic resistance element. In order to prevent deformation of the resistor when it is heated, and hence the possibility that the resistor comes into contact with the wall of a heating apparatus housing, it is proposed that stiffening and reinforcing elements (15) for the support (11, 11') be provided, on which the resistance elements (12, 12') are fitted, and that the stiffening and reinforcing elements run in the longitudinal direction between the two ends and stiffen the entire construction, and hence prevent its deformation during heating. <IMAGE>
