PURPOSE:To perform a simple and rapid measurement of water temperature under a condition that a ship is sailing, by measuring a propagating speed of an acoustic wave by the use of a transmitter and a receiver for an acoustic wave which are securely mounted to a ship. CONSTITUTION:By means of trigger pulse from a trigger pulse generating circuit 5, a transmitter 1 transmits a pulselike acoustic wave for a given period of time, and receives 2a and 2b direct receiving beam in a direction crossing an acoustic wave path. Meanwhile, an FF circuit 7a is brought into a set state by means of a trigger pulse from the circuit 5, the receiver 2a receives a reflecting acoustic wave, and is reset when a receiving wave reaches an amplifying circuit 6. An FF 7b is reset when a receiving wave reaches an amplifying circuit 6 via the receiver 2b. During the operation of the FF 7a and 7b, a pulse train is sent to counting circuits 10a and 10b via gate circuits 8a and 8b, a propagating speed in water is computed from the counting values by a counter 11, and water temperature is computed simply and rapidly. |
