PURPOSE:To attain precise conversion from ''kana'' (Japanese syllabary) to ''kanji'' (Chinese character) while utilizing a provisional dictionary by displaying homonyms in a word dictionary as proposed words even if the same reading as a ''kanji'' word registered in the provisional dictionary is keyed in. CONSTITUTION:The reading of an original is inputted from a keyboard 2, a processing device 7 retrieves a provisional dictionary 9. If ''kanji'' words coincident with the inputted reading are found, the words are successively stacked in a proposed word storage area 10 as proposed words. Subsequently the processing device 7 retrieves a word dictionary 6. If ''kanji'' words coincident with the inputted reading are found, the processing device 7 stacks these words in the proposed word storage area 10 as proposed words in the order of selecting frequency. The processing device 7 fetches these proposed words from the storage area 10 and adds bringing information indicating the existence of homonyms to the words to display them on a CRT monitor 3. The operator discriminates whether the original is correctly converted or not from the display. |
