<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent ultraviolet leaked from white light emitting diodes from irradiating a liquid crystal panel even though the white light emitting diodes are used. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal projector 10 comprises an illuminating optical system 11, a mirror 12, dichroic mirrors 13 and 14, three transmission type liquid crystal panels 15R, 15G, and 15G, a cross dichroic prism 16, a projection lens 17, a screen 18, and an illuminating device 19. The illuminating device 19 has a power source 29, a rod integrator 30, and a ultraviolet absorption plate 31. The light source 29 is composed of the white LEDs 32, a base member 33, and a lens array 35 having a plurality of condenser lenses 34. The ultraviolet absorption plate 31 is attached to the incident face 30a of the rod integrator 30. The ultraviolet absorption plate 31 is made of such a material that absorbs the ultraviolet of the rays of light emitted from the white LED 32 and transmits white rays of light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
