<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously reduce combustion vibration and noise all the time without being affected by the presence of correction. <P>SOLUTION: In this fuel injection control method for an engine, injection rate waveform of fuel injected from a fuel injection device is controlled. As for a plurality of parameters determining the fuel injection rate waveform, effects on initial heat generation rate waveform having a relationship with combustion noise or an exhaust gas purification rate are stored beforehand. Based on the stored information, combination of values of the parameters to minimize the peak of the initial heat generation rate waveform all the time is continuously determined, and by using the determined combination of the parameter values, the fuel injection rate waveform is determined. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
