PURPOSE:To prepare a hot molded spring free from decarburization and excellent in corrosion resistance, by a method wherein a non-ferrous metal film is formed to the surface of a spring grade steel material by flame spraying and, after hot molding, shot peening is applied to the molded one. CONSTITUTION:A nonferous metal comprising Ni, Al or Cr or an alloy based on these metals is flame-sprayed to the surface of a spring grade steel material to form a film with a film thickness of about 50-500mum. Subsequently, the treated steel material is subjected to hot molding and shot peening is applied to the molded one to obtain a hot molded spring. Because this spring is prevented from decarburization due to heating and excellent in corrosion resistance, it withstands high strain and durable life is long. In addition, a manufacturing process is relatively simple and the rising in cost is scarecely brought about. |
