PURPOSE:To simplify a maintenance work by providing a replenishing developer supplementary feeding device for replenishing a developer by a proper quantity each at an opportune time into a developing device in accordance with the consumption decrease of a contained developer in the developing device, with respect to the developing device being a latent image developing means. CONSTITUTION:The elapsed consumption decrease degree of a contained developer of a developing device 10 side is always measured, and when the decrease degree reaches a prescribed lower limit value, the supplementary feed mechanism of a replenishing developer supplementary feeding device 20 side is driven by its signal, a coil conveyor 33 run into an external projecting cylinder 21 rotates, and a replenishing developer in the device 20 is replenished into the developing device 10. When it is detected by a sensor that the toner portion density of the developer or the quantity of the developer in the developing device 10 is returned to a prescribed standard value by said replenishment, the driving of the supplementary feed mechanism is stopped. Such a developer replenishment is executed intermittently at an opportune time and the toner density of the contained developer or the quantity of the developer of the developing device 10 side is always maintained and managed to a roughly prescribed value. In such way, a maintenance work can be simplified remarkably.
