PURPOSE: To obtain a polymer having a high elastic modulus and to improve creep resistance remarkably by producing an orientative ethylene polymer having a specified weight average molecular weight, ratio of number average molecular weight to weight average molecular weight and creep strain. CONSTITUTION: A crystalline or amorphous polymer having a weight average molecular weight of about 150,000-300,000, a ratio of number average molecular weight to weight average molecular weight of at the lowest 5 is produced at about 75-140 deg.C. The copolymer is compression-molded at 160 deg.C between copper plates into a dumbbell-shaped specimen. The room temperature creep strain after the specimen being held for 15 hr under stress generating initial strain of 1% after 10 sec is at the highest 3%. |
