<p>According to the invention there is provided a panel anchor of the type by means of which a screw (19) or bolt or similar may be secured to a panel (18), wall, ceiling or the like, wherein the anchor comprises an inner member (1) defining a channel in which a screw (19) may be secured; and an outer member (19); the inner and outer members being threadably interengageable; the inner member (1) having a relatively rigid radial flange (3) and the outer member (9) having a relatively resilient deformable portion (13); the arrangement being such that, in use, when the two members of the anchor are interengaged and inserted through a hole in a panel (18), tightening of the threaded interengagement between the two members causes said deformable portion (13) to extend radially and to co-operate with the flange (3) to grip opposite sides of the panel (18). In a preferred embodiment the resilient deformable portion comprises a series of longitudinally extending leaves (13) separated by longitudinally extending slits. A weak point or hinge (17) is provided at a point along the length of each leaf (13) so that under longitudinal compressive loads the leaf (13) is caused to snap outwards in a direction transverse to the compressive load.</p> |
