摘要 Before entering a single- or multi-stage Claus reactor, H2S gas from which sulphur is to be produced undergoes pential combustion. Depending on the amt. of H2S in the feed gas, this combustion takes place in a single furnace or in two furnaces operating in parallel, while further treatment is in a single reactor with output matching the max. expected sulphur flow. Behind the Claus reactor residual gases are catalytically hydrogenised, converting any remaining 5 cpds. to H2S. To ensure adequate presence of H2 for hydrogenisation, the initial feed gas is admixed with ammoniacal waste gas before the combustion stage. Such waste gas may derive from any source, and the amt. added may reach equality with the feed gas. ADVANTAGE - Process economies are improved, and total discharge of NH3 into atmos. may be reduced.
