<p>PURPOSE: To detect many parameters optically by forming a sensor comprising a reflective coating, an optical detecting material layer and an infrared ray absorbing material layer at an end of a single optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: A sensor 11 comprising an optical element 21 is fixed at an end of an optical fiber 13. The element 21 is made of a polymer elastic material and has convex outer surface 23 applied with three additional layers 25, 27, 29. The reflective coating 25 is applied directly to the surface 23 and used for measuring a pressure, a force associated therewith or the amount of displacement. The layer 27 of a temperature dependent optical detecting material is applied onto the layer 25 and used for measuring the temperature. The layer 29 of an infrared ray absorbing material is further applied onto the layer 25 and used for measuring the flow rate or the like. A part of a light incident to the fiber 13 is varied by a force or a pressure being applied to the sensor 11 and returned back to the fiber 13 through the element 25.</p> |
