Method for sensing an object 1, such as an image 1, for reproduction of the object in the form of an image 1', in which the object is sensed by means of scanning, an image in the form of signals, such as video signals, being produced and transmitted to a control unit 3 in the form of a computer, and in which an image of the object is displayed on a screen 6 by means of the control unit, and in which reproduction is effected in the form of an image in vectorized form. The method is characterized in particular in that the scanning for producing an image, vectorizing, storage and display of a stored image on the screen 6 takes place automatically in a continuous sequence, each new image being stored over or after the preceding image at a predetermined place by means of the control unit 3, and in that said sequence is interrupted, in particular when an image of the desired quality is obtained, and also in that the last stored image is used for reproduction.
