A chair construction for use in obstetrics comprises a frame with a base part 2 and, projecting upwards from this, an upright arrangement 3, 3' which supports a seat part 13 with an opening or recess 14 intended to serve as a passage for the child being delivered. A support device 21 is arranged in the area in front of and above the seat part and can be gripped by hand by the woman sitting on the seat part. This support device 21 is held by an upright arrangement 4 placed in front of the seat part 13 and separate from the latter, and it includes a support element 28 against which the seated woman's trunk can rest. The seat part is supported by two separate members 3, 3' placed on both sides of the seat opening, leaving a space, under the opening 14, that is freely accessible from behind the seat part. <IMAGE> |
