A new wet-oxidn. reactor, consists of at least one vertical bubble column with a lower inlet. The column contains at least one vertical return pipe with a gas separator at its upper inlet and end whose lower outlet end is located outside the zone affected by the flow from the inlet nozzle. The vertical return pipe is pref. located in the lower part of the column, or in a lower inlet chamber within the column. The inlet nozzle and the outlet from the return pipe are offset horizontally and/or vertically from each other, and the return pipe is pref. vertical and parallel the axis of the column. More than one return pipe, for example three arranged in a circle at equal distances from the column wall (11), may be used in each column. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in wet oxidn. processes. The required temp. in the lower part of the column is assured and a more uniform temp. distribution within the clumn is achieved, without increasing the size of the column or the consumption of additional energy
