PURPOSE:To lessen heat radiation and to obviate the generation of hot wind and noise even with a cooling mechanism for air cooling by providing a current maintaining means for maintaining the discharge current of a laser tube to a current of a low level at which the maintenance of the discharge is possible at the time of standing by for irradiation. CONSTITUTION:A laser power comparator 46 compares the laser power set signal at the time of irradiation with the laser power signal from an amplifier 23 and outputs an output regulation signal so as to match the output of the laser beam from an argon laser 1 to the power set valve and to stabilize the output. A switch 47 changes over the set current to a current comparing amplifier 48 to the current at the time of the irradiation with the laser or the non- irradiation and sets the current at the time of the non-irradiation at the value at which the maintenance of the discharge is possible by a variable resistor 49. A starter 45 is operated by the tube discharge start signal from a control section and applies the voltage sufficient for ionizing gaseous argon to an anode 102. The laser output signal of the amplifier 23 and the tube current outflow signal of the current detector 49a are outputted to the control section and are made into the data for monitoring the argon laser 1 in the control section. |
