An accommodating intraocular Lens having an optic and portions extendin g from the optic radially outwards preferably with fixation devices at their distal ends, the optic designed such that it has a sharp posterior edge for 360 degrees of it s perimeter and the lens designed such that the optic can move forward and backwards wit h constriction and relaxation of the ciliary muscle.
