PURPOSE:To generate a correct movement detecting signal in an image freezing condition and to make a frozen image into a high picture quality by generating the movement detecting signal based on contents stored in the memory of a movement detecting circuit just before the frozen image is required. CONSTITUTION:In a condition in which the frozen image is required, the writing of a new high definition television signal to a memory 15 of a between-frames inserting circuit 13 is prevented, and simultaneously, a movement correcting processing by a field memory 16 is stopped. The writing of a calculated between-2-frames-difference signal is prevented to a memory 29 of a movement detecting circuit 25, and the movement detecting signal is generated based on the contents stored in the memory 29 just before the frozen image is required. Thus, the correct movement detecting signal can be generated in the image freezing condition, and the frozen image can be made into the high picture quality. |
