<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a water-based ink capable of giving prints excellent in quick dryability and quality, comprising a water-soluble or water-dispersible colorant, copper hydroxide, ethylenediamine or ammonia, saccharide or sugar alcohol, and water. CONSTITUTION: This water-based ink comprises (A) pref. 0.5-20wt.% of a water- soluble or water-dispersible colorant (e.g. water-soluble dye or pigment), (B) 0.05-2.5wt.% of copper hydroxide, (C) ethylenediamine or ammonia, (D) pref. 1-20wt.% of a saccharide or sugar alcohol, (e.g. glucose, glycerol), and (E) water (pref. pure water or ultrapure water). This ink has a surface tension of >=40 dyne/cm (pref. >=55 dyne/cm). It is preferable that the amount of the ethylenediamine or ammonia to be added be two or at least four molar times the component B, respectively, in order to increase the stability of the copper complex formed through interaction of the component B with the component C.</p> |
