摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the liquid crystal polymer layer which can form a high- luminance light source device with superior light utilization efficiency or a light well-viewed liquid crystal display device with small display irregularity by performing orientation so that the mean number of domains per unit area on one surface is not more than a specific value. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal polymer layer 1 is oriented so that the means domain number of per unit area on one surface is <=100,000/mm<2> or/and variance in the number of domains per unit area is <=20,000/mm<2> . Various optical elements can be formed by arranging one or >=2 kinds of proper optical layer such as a 1/4-wavelength plate 2 and a polarizing plate 3 for this liquid crystal polymer layer 1 and a circularly polarized light separation layer. Further, a light source device, a liquid crystal display device, etc., can be formed by arranging a light source, a liquid crystal cell, etc. This 1/4-wavelength plate 2 is arranged on one side or both the sides of the circularly polarized light separation layer and functions directly as a polarized light converting means.
