摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the ATM communication equipment in which an operating efficiency of a host bus is improved and a delay from decision of cell transmission until actual cell transmission is relaxed. SOLUTION: The ATM communication equipment 1 is provided with a transmission payload temporary storage section 14 that stores and manages transmission data of a plurality of cells for each virtual channel VC and with a means that reads the transmission data of a plurality of cells in the temporary storage section 14 for one bus cycle through DMA. In the case of transmission of one cell from a VC, payload data after 2nd and succeeding cells through the VC are read for one bus cycle through DMA together with the data of the 1st cell, the payload data after 2nd and succeeding cells are stored in a payload FIFO 17 in the temporary storage section 14 assigned to the VC and then in the case of the transmission of the VC after 2nd and succeeding cells, the payload data are read from the transmission payload temporary storage section 14 and transmitted as cells, then number of DMA transfer is reduced so as to reduce the bus occupancy time by an overhead such as an undesired bus arbitration or the like thereby relaxing the delay for cell transmission.</p>
