The invention relates to a transmission unit, comprising a transmission housing and a housing cover (42) which is allocated to said housing in an axial direction in the installation position. The transmission housing has an essentially cylindrical inside space (41) for receiving individual transmission elements. The inventive transmission unit also comprises a device for at least indirectly resetting actuating elements of frictional clutch and/or brake devices, comprising at least two friction surface-bearing elements whose friction surfaces can be frictionally interconnected via a further friction surface-bearing intermediate element. The invention is characterised by the following features: at least two elements are provided for connecting an individual transmission element in such a way that it is fixed in relation to the housing and/or the device for at least indirectly resetting actuating elements of frictional clutch and/or brake devices, these elements being allocated to the inside space beyond the area of a largest dimension of the cylindrical inside space in the direction of height in the installation position. The housing cover (42) is free from any effects of axial force exerted by the device for at least indirectly resetting the actuating elements and/or the transmission elements.
