PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head capable of allowing a height size from a lower surface of a base section of a head base to an edge of a gap to be easily adjusted, and its adjustment method. SOLUTION: This magnetic head includes a head base 11 that has a flat-plate shaped base section 11a and a projecting piece 11b provided to project in a plane direction of the base section 11a, in which a head chip 13 is attached onto a lower surface D at the tip portion in the projecting direction L of the projecting piece 11b. A protruded section T is provided at an upper surface U' of the projecting piece 11b. By pressing this protruded section T, the projecting piece 11b is plastically deformed so that an position of a gap G (a height size H0) can be adjusted.
