PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming method by which the improvement of a digital color printing material and instrumental compatibility with an existent product before improvement are attained and to obtain a silver halide photosensitive material used in the method. SOLUTION: A silver halide color photosensitive material is exposed in accordance with digital image data (signal) using at least a calibration function for correcting the amount of exposure light to the photosensitive material and a function to make reference to a lookup table(LUT) so as to set density balance (light exposure) of yellow, magenta and cyan and then development is carried out to form a color print. In this image forming method, the silver halide color photosensitive material contains two or more different yellow image forming compounds or yellow dye imparting compounds in such a way that the absorption maximum in the finished print is located at 400-460 nm and an image is particularly formed by heat development color diffusion transfer using the silver halide photosensitive material and a dye fixing material.
