<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain satisfactory characteristics in data recording and data reproduction to a super resolution type optical recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: Recording and reproduction of data are performed by irradiating the optical recording medium 10, provided with a substrate 11, a light transmission layer 12, and a first dielectric layer 31, a noble metal oxide layer 23, a second dielectric layer 32, a light absorption layer 22, a third dielectric layer 33 and a reflection layer 21 which are disposed between the light transmission layer 12 and the substrate 11, with a laser beam 40 from the light transmission layer 12 side. When the wavelength of the laser beam 40 and a numerical aperture of an object lens are defined as λ and NA, respectively, λ/NA is set to be ≤640 nm. When recording power and reproducing power of the laser beam 40 are defined as Pw and Pr, respectively, Pw and Pr are set so as to satisfy Pw×0.1≤Pr≤Pw×0.5, so that recording of recording mark columns containing recording marks having lengths of ≤λ/4NA and reproduction from the recording mark columns are performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
