PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and inexpensively measure the motion of a rolling element for a rolling bearing. SOLUTION: The device for measuring the motion state of a rolling element for a rolling bearing is composed by magnetizing one of balls 5 so that it has N and S poles and incorporating it into a retainer 6 as a magnetization ball 5a, allowing three magnetic resistance effect elements 7, 8, and 9 that are arranged at a fixed side so that they are in a specific relationship for each coordinates axis of three orthogonal coordinates axes including a Z axis passing on the center axis of a rolling ball bearing to compose a set of magnetoresistance effect element group 10, arranging the plurality of magneto- resistance effect element groups 5 along the rolling circumference surface of the ball 5, and electrically connecting the magnetic resistance effect elements 7, 8, and 9 to a resistance change-detecting device.
