PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a planar heat pipe compactly at low cost by enclosing the opposite ends of a perforated pipe by welding, or the like, and a planar heat pipe thus manufactured. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a planar heat pipe comprises a first step for removing a part of a barrier wall 10 isolating respective holes of a perforated pipe and interconnecting respective holes at the opposite ends of the perforated pipe, a second step for closing one end part 20 of the interconnected perforated pipe by welding, a third step for closing the other end part 20 of the interconnected perforated pipe while leaving an unwelded part at least partially, a fourth step for injecting a working liquid and degassing noncondensible gas at the unwelded part, and a fifth step for closing the unwelded part, subjected to injection and degassing, by welding.
