<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce the manufacturing cost of a beta sialon sintered compact by a novel beta sialon manufacturing technique on the premise that the properties of a beta sialon sintered compact manufactured from a previously obtained beta sialon powder are at least retained. <P>SOLUTION: The beta sialon powder is directly manufactured by 1. using metallic silicon, or the like, as a silicon source for a raw material for a combustion synthesis reaction and using bauxite, or the like, as an aluminum source and 2. spraying a gas prepared by a combustion synthesis into a cooling coagulation chamber through a nozzle and coagulating the sprayed gas in the chamber. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
