<p>PURPOSE:To provide a monitoring device for the side of vehicle informing a driver of the presence of vehicles traveling side by side when it is detected. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with a feature point extraction means 1 extracting the feature point from a picture signal whose image is picked up for each DELTAt time, flow length calculation means 2 calculating the flow length by the difference between the extracted feature point position and the former feature point position, moving flow length calculation means 3 calculating the moving flow length by the movement distance of one's own vehicle, decision means 4 deciding whether or not a vehicle is at the side by the calculated flow length and the movement flow length, and warning means 5 sending a warning when a vehicle is at the side.</p> |
