<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus capable of obtaining a required luminance profile without providing a circuit or a component for compensating dispersion in the luminance of LEDs. <P>SOLUTION: Six LEDs 1a to 1f for backlights are arranged at an approximately equal distance D like a line along the side of a liquid crystal display panel 3. The LEDs 1c, 1d having a high luminance rank are arranged on the center part of the side, the LEDs 1b, 1e having a medium luminance rank are arranged on intermediate parts of the side and the LEDs 1a, 1f having a low luminance rank are arranged on the end part sides. Currents of the same amount are allowed to flow into the LEDs 1a to 1f. Consequently luminance on the screen of the liquid crystal panel 3 is high on the center part and the luminance is gradually reduced in respective peripheral edge directions, so that a required luminance profile can be obtained in the liquid crystal display apparatus for image display. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
