A WDM-PON(Wavelength Division Multiplexing-Passive Optical Networks) and a wavelength initialization method thereof are provided to automatically array tunable light sources according to allocated unique wavelengths by installing WPMCs(WDM-PON Master Controllers) and a WPSC(WDM-PON Slave Controller) in an OLT(Optical Line Terminal) and an ONT(Optical Network Terminal) respectively and using a table configuration algorithm and an optimal value determination algorithm, thereby performing an automatic wavelength initialization function. A WDM-PON comprises an OLT, an ONT, and an RN(Remote Node). A physical layer(100) in the OLT comprises WPMCs for wavelength initialization. The ONT comprises a TLD(Tunable Laser Diode). A physical layer(140) in the ONT comprises a WPSC for wavelength initialization. The RN executes a relay function between the OLT and the ONT. Wavelength of the TLD can be initialized through the exchange of wavelength initialization information between the WPMCs and the WPSC. The WPSC tunes the TLD by varying WCIs(Wavelength Control Indexes). The WPMCs receive WCIs and the power of optical signals corresponding to the WCIs, determine an optimal WCI, and transmit the result to the WPSC. |
