PURPOSE: To make picture light for left-eye and that for right-eye, which constitute a solid picture, incident on the left eye and the right eye of a monitor without using polarization glasses and a lenticular screen, for example, as in the conventional manner. CONSTITUTION: A picture display means 10 which projects picture light for left-eye and that for right eye on a diffusion board 3 by varying polarization angles between them and displays the picture for left eye and that for right eye is provided. An optical path selection means 20 selecting optical paths so that respective picture light displayed in the picture display means 10 pass through respective areas on a two-dimensional plane, which are not mutually overlapped, a polarized angle displacement means 20 setting the polarized angles of picture light for left eye and that of right eye to be the same, a condensing means 30 condensing picture light for left eye and that for right eye, which pass through the respective areas and whose polarized angles are set to the same by the means 20, to the positions of the left eye and the right eye, a half-face detection means 40 detecting the positions of the left eye and the right eye and a transmission area control means 40 controlling the areas through which picture light for left eye and that for right eye from the optical path selection means 20 pass on a detection result by the half face detection means are provided. |
