PURPOSE: An anti-obesity material containing Artemisia iwayomogi oligosaccharide fraction 1 separated from Artemisia iwayomogi as an effective ingredient is provided. The Artemisia iwayomogi oligosaccharide fraction 1 has an effect of reducing weight and abdominal fat and improving metabolism of obesity. Thus, the anti-obesity material is useful as a health supplementary food. CONSTITUTION: Artemisia iwayomogi is extracted in water, treated with ethanol and then subjected to chromatography to give a water-soluble saccharide having a molecular weight of 2,500 daltons. The anti-obesity material contains the water-soluble saccharide as Artemisia iwayomogi oligosaccharide fraction 1. The water-soluble saccharide comprises glucose, galactose and xylose. |
