摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device of an IPS mode wherein response speed can be increased and a high speed TV can be attained by IPS driving with lateral electric fields of two directions. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display of an IPS mode wherein an array substrate and a color filter substrate are provided opposite to each other, a liquid crystal is interposed between the both substrates and a common electrode and a pixel electrode are formed on the array substrate, a first common electrode 1 and a first pixel electrode 2 formed on the array substrate and generating a lateral electric field in a first direction and a second common electrode 3 and a second pixel electrode 4 formed on the array substrate and generating a lateral electric field in a second direction different from the first direction are provided and the liquid crystal is driven by the lateral electric fields of the first and the second directions.
