PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-install catching prevention device with a simple constitution capable of preventing catching of a long material in a hoistway of an elevator. SOLUTION: This catching prevention device 100 comprises a wire 5, a supporting arm 12 having a support part 30 supporting one end of the wire 5 and projecting on a guide rail 4, a plurality of landing plate mounting arms 3 sequentially projecting from upward to downward of the guide rail 4, passing the wire, arranged at a position, where the wire 5 is inserted from the support part 30 of the support arm 12 along the guide rail 4 under an approximately linear condition when the wire 5 is tensed, and having a wire passing ring 6 to restrain horizontal movement of the wire 5, and a tension giving mechanism 7 giving a tension to the wire 5 which passes through the wire ring 6.
