PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article mounting base allowing a worker to put an article on it in a desired orientation by adjusting the direction of the article in the peripheral direction. SOLUTION: This article mounting base is constituted to put a barrel having circular cross section on a load handling carrier 12 being the article mounting base. The load handling carrier 12 is provided with first supporting bases 22A, 22B and second supporting bases 23A, 23B on a pair of pedestal frames 20, respectively. Tip faces 26A, 26B of the first supporting bases 22A, 22B are provided with carrying-in-and-out path faces 27A, 27B allowing the barrel to rotate, pass, and be carried in and out by rolling it and first supporting faces 28A, 28B extended obliquely downward as approaching the second supporting bases 23A, 23B, respectively. Tip faces 29A, 29B of the second supporting bases 23A, 23B are formed to extend obliquely upward as leaving the first supporting bases 22A, 22B and are provided with rollers 31A, 31B for rotating the barrel when the barrel is pressed against them by the worker by assisting its rotation in such a state that a barrel supporting condition is released, respectively.
