PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for supporting an idle mode of a terminal in a wireless communication system are provided to reduce the overhead of a paging advertisement message by transmission frequency of a paging advertisement message. CONSTITUTION: A terminal receives a broadcast system information indication message(603). If an information change count value of a neighbor BS(Base Station) advertisement message is changed, the terminal grasps the transmission time of the neighbor BS advertisement message(607). The terminal receives the neighbor BS advertisement message in the transmission time of the neighbor BS advertisement message(609). If the transmission time of the neighbor BS advertisement message is in a paging listening interval, the terminal transits to a paging non-listening interval(611).
