PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an inward warping phenomenon from being induced at the tail of a thick veneer sheet, in cutting of the thick veneer sheet from a raw wood, resulting from the intrinsic strong winding property of the thick veneer sheet. SOLUTION: When cutting is completed at the end of a veneer sheet cutting step of cutting a thick veneer sheet 3A having a desired thickness or more from a raw wood 1, the stripping thickness of veneer sheet is changed once to a thickness less than the desired thickness so that the cutting trace by a cutting edge 2a of a cutting blade 2 follows a dotted line shown by K1 at the time when the cutting edge 2a of the cutting blade 2 reaches a radius r3 larger than a regulated minimum stripping core radius r1 by a desired amountα, whereby a thin veneer sheet 3B having a thickness less than the desired thickness is tentatively cut successively to a defective veneer sheet 3c having a trapezoidal sectional shape in development view, and the cutting is then finished at the time when the cutting edge 2a of the cutting blade 2 reaches the regulated minimum stripping core radius r1, whereby the thin veneer sheet 3B is additively cut out as a weight through the defective veneer sheet 3c at the tail of the thick veneer sheet 3A.
