<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly electrify an image carrier over a long term and to obtain excellent image quality by separating 2nd additive having a reverse polarity to that of one-component developer from the one-component developer at the time of developing and at the time of transferring. SOLUTION: At least two kinds of particles, that is, 1st additive having the same polarity as that of the one-component developer and the 2nd additive having the reverse polarity to that of the one-component developer are added to the one- component developer. Electric field is impressed so that the 2nd additive moves from an electrifying means 13 to the image carrier 10 when an image is not formed. The shape of the one-component developer at the time of transferring is changed from the shape of the one-component developer in a developing means 40 by separating the 2nd additive having the reverse polarity to that of the one-component developer from the one-component developer by the electric field impressed at the time of developing and at the time of transferring, whereby the surface shape of the one-component developer is changed. Furthermore, even when the 2nd additive which is not removed at the time of cleaning and left on the image carrier 10 adheres to the contact electrifying means, it is removed from the contact electrifying means when the image is not formed, so that it is not accumulated on the contact electrifying means.</p> |
