The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for modeling an information transfer network having a hierarchical structure. For this purpose, the apparatus for modeling an information transfer network having a hierarchical structure, in which information transfer is performed only between nodes having a predefined relationship, comprises: a connectivity map generation unit which generates connection relationship information for individual nodes based on traffic information including data transmission direction information for the individual nodes included in an information transfer network, and generates a connectivity map for the nodes based on the connection relationship information for the individual nodes; and a traffic map generation unit which generates a traffic information map indicative of the levels of traffic between the nodes by applying the traffic information between the nodes to the connectivity map.
