[Also in Division H2] Semi-conducting rectifiers 7 (and/or 12, Fig. 2) are electrically insulatingly mounted on a metal part of a transformer tank wall, e.g. a metal plate 6, or hollow metal trunking (10 and/or 11, Fig. 2), the metal part being provided internally with cooling fins and contacting the transformer cooling oil. A disc or washer (22, Fig. 3), of an electrically insulating but good thermally conducting material, e.g. sintered berylia or alumina (see Specification 1,026,716), is disposed between the flanged base (19) of the rectifier (14) having electrodes (17 and 18) and the metal part (13) of the transformer tank. The rectifier is mounted on the metal part (13) by nuts and bolts (15, 16) and a metal clamping plate (23) insulated from the base (19) by a polyethylene washer (25), a tagged copper ring (20) providing connection to one electrode (17). The olamping plate (23) and washer (25) may be replaced by a fibre glass washer. The rectifiers 7 (or 12) may be interconnected and are connected to the transformer windings by external terminals 8.</p> |
