Bonded zeolitic molecular sieves, especially zeolites A and X (see Specifications 777,232 and 777,233), are made from a mixture comprising the molecular sieve, 1 to 40% kaolin clays as defined by weight of the final mixture and adding thereto 2 to 5% of lignosulphonate, forming said mixture into a pliant mass by incorporating water if necessary and firing at a temperature sufficiently high to dry the kaolin, preferably above 600 DEG C., but below the temperature at which the molecular sieves are rendered structurally unstable. Kaolin type clays include kaolin, kaolinite, halloysite, endellite, dickite. The pliant mass may be subjected to extension and breaking up into pellets prior to firing, which latter stage is preferably effected in an air stream. The Specification contains a comparison of the lack of mechanical stability of a product obtained by substituting attapulgite or bentonite for the kaolin clay.ALSO:Bonded zeolitic molecular sieves, especially zeolites A and X (see Specifications 777,232 and 777,233) are made from a mixture comprising the molecular sieve, 1-40% kaolin clays as defined by weight of the final mixture and adding thereto 2-5% of lignosulfonate, forming said mixture into a pliant mass by incorporating water if necessary and firing at a temperature sufficiently high to dry the kaolin, preferably above 600 DEG C., but below the temperature at which the molecular sieves are rendered structurally unstable.
